This is not a manufacturing defect, but deliberately designed that way.Our engine mounts are made of rubber or polyurethane (PU) with a defined Shore hardness. To ensure the mount sits absolutely securely in the engine holder, it is manufactured with a so-called press fit. This means the outer diameter of the mount is intentionally larger (up to about 1.4 mm) than the housing in the holder.During installation, the mount is pressed into the engine holder with appropriate tools and high pressure (approximately 5 tons of pressing force).Why do we do this?Maximum secure fit: The mount is play-free and cannot become looseNo twisting: Even under high load, the mount stays exactly in positionHigh durability: No movement in the seat = less wearOptimal power transmission: Forces are cleanly introduced into the holderDue to the elastic properties of rubber or PU, the mount adapts during pressing and builds up a permanent preload. It is precisely this preload that ensures the mount functions reliably even under heavy stress.Important:Installation should always be done with a suitable press. Hammering or similar can damage the mount or result in an improper fit.

Product information "Reinforced Engine Mounting Bearing Gearbox Mounting Bearing Golf MK1 Scirocco Caddy Jetta 74mm Ø Shore Hardness 68"

Reinforced engine mounting / engine bearing / gearbox bearing as replacement for the originial bearing. The main function of the side bearings is to support the weight of the engine and gear unit. The reinforced gearbox bearings are therefore particularly recommended if you want to install the G60, 16V or 16V Turbo in connection with the 02A gearbox.

In contrast to the series bearings, which have a Shore hardness of approx. 55-60, the reinforced ones have a Shore hardness of 78.

Also ideal for our conversion kits to VR6 or 16V 1.8T engines in the Golf 1.

Delivery:

1x reinforced engine mount / bearing for pressing made of rubber, 64.4mm Shore hardness 78 (original is 55-60)

The installation does not require a registration
