Complete brake upgrade on Audi S1 E2 to the original 4 piston Alcon brake system (139287)
The customer request / problem:
Our customer Alex would like to install the following brake system with these components on the front and rear axle of his Audi S1 E2:
Front axle:
- 4 piston Alcon brake system
- 330x36mm friction ring
- 4 piston Alcon brake system
- 280x26mm friction ring
Our realisation / solution:
- Our customer Alex sent us the wheel bearing housings from the Audi S1 E2 and the complete original Alcon 4-piston brake system including friction rings and old brake disc pots for the front and rear axle
- So that Alex can install the original 4-piston Alcon brake system on his Audi S1 E2, we have to produce new customised brake disc pots for the front and rear axles.
- On the rear axle, in addition to the custom-made brake disc pots, we have to install brake caliper tuning adapters so that the 4-piston Alcon brake system with the 280x26mm friction rings can be fitted.
3-D Prototyping front axle
To achieve this, we adapted the old brake disc pots to the dimensions of the 330x36mm friction ring so that the original Alcon brake system can be fitted.
The final 3D brake disc pot for the front axle of the Audi S1 E2 is tested in our workshop to check that everything fits perfectly with the 4-piston Alcon brake system and the 330x36mm brake disc and that there are no defects.
3-D Prototyping rear axle
The final 3D prototypes, in the form of brake disc pots and brake caliper tuning adapters, are tested directly in our workshop to check that everything fits perfectly with the 4-piston Alcon brake system and the 280x26mm friction rings and that there are no defects.
We always work with 3D models in advance, as it often happens that certain dimensions and conditions cannot be taken into account on the tuning adapter in advance. Thanks to the 3D model, we can be sure that everything fits.
Production
After we have tested the 3D prototypes in our workshop, we can mill the customised brake disc pots and brake caliper tuning adapters for the front and rear axle to fit the Audi S1 E2 precisely in order to install the Alcon 4-piston brake system.
The customised brake disc pots and the tuning adapters have arrived back at our factory from the surface refiner and were trial-fitted directly in our workshop.
