Drive shaft Audi S3 8L VW Golf 4 1J conversion DQ250 DSG conversion suitable for DQ250 transmission 4 cylinder 6-speed
- ✓ front axle
- ✓ Audi S3, Audi A3 8L
- ✓ DQ250/DSG 6-speed gearbox
Drive shaft set for the Audi A3 / S3 8L, VW Golf 4 1J. Absolutely necessary if you want to convert your vehicle to TFSI 16V or 1.8T engine in conjunction with the DQ250 / DSG 6-speed transmission.
The drive shafts only fit in conjunction with the DQ250 / DSG all-wheel drive transmission, which were installed on the 4-cylinder engines, such as in the VW Golf 6R.
The DQ250 transmissions, which are installed in conjunction with the 6-cylinder engines, have a star-shaped flange and a tripod joint and are therefore unfortunately not suitable with our drive shafts.
Fits the following vehicles:
- Audi A3 8L
- Audi S3 8L
- VW Golf 4 1J
Suitable for the following gearbox:
- DQ250 / DSG All wheel drive transmission
It is important that when installing the new drive shaft, no excess pressure is created in the sleeve. In our installation instructions you can see how to prevent this (click here).
By installing the thinner drive shaft you save the reworking of the body. This saves you time and nerves.
Advantages of the shafts:
- stable up to 800 hp
- fits plug and play
- solid shaft made of special high strength material
- simple assembly
- our drive shafts are registration-free and therefore do not need to be registered.
Note:
Our drive shafts are supplied with nut fastenings. However, depending on the vehicle, a bolt fastening may also be used at the wheel hub. In this case, the outer joint of the original drive shaft can be easily reused.
Scope of delivery:
- 1x drive shaft set for Audi A3 S3 8L VW Golf 4 1J stable up to 1000 hp.
- Matching bushings so that the gearbox sits at the correct height
Our drive shafts are registration-free and therefore do not need to be registered.

- Does the driveshaft set also fit DQ250 transmissions of 6-cylinder engines?
No, our drive shaft set only fits DQ250 transmissions from 4-cylinder engines, as the DQ250 from 6-cylinder engines has a star-shaped flange, and therefore our joints would not fit, and also the DQ250 from 6-cylinder engines have a tripod joint instead of a constant velocity joint.
- Why doesn't my drive shaft fit the wheel hub? I need a bolt for fastening instead of a nut.
For this vehicle, there are two different versions of the wheel hub depending on the year of manufacture or model variant. The drive shaft is secured from the outside either with a central nut or with a central bolt.
This is vehicle-specific and not a manufacturing defect.
We generally supply this drive shaft set with the nut version. However, if your vehicle has the bolt fastening on the wheel hub, it is usually not a problem: You can simply take the outer joint of your old drive shaft, remove it from the old shaft, and mount it 1:1 on the new drive shaft. The other dimensions and the function remain the same.
This allows the drive shaft to be used without problems in vehicles with bolt fastening.
- What exactly is the benefit of a shorter drive shaft?
Lowering changes the axle geometry and the shaft presses on the wheel bearing, exposing it to high wear and possibly destroying it in the worst case. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary to relieve the pressure from the component. This is done by shortening the shafts.
- Do the reinforced drive shafts also have reinforced joints?
On the wheel side, the joints are also reinforced, but the inner joints are like the standard joints.
- Why are two bags of grease included in the package?
The grease is included so that additional greasing can be done, or if the gearbox flange is open at the back. In this case, greasing must still be done there. If the shaft is delivered completely closed, greasing is not necessary as it has already been done.
- Why are no backing plates (OE: 1K0407357D) included for mounting as they are originally available?
We do not supply the base plates, as we install the latest version of the bellows. With these, the base plates are no longer needed.
- What is the length of the drive shaft?
If you want to know the length of our drive shaft, please first look directly at the product description of the respective item. If a shaft measurement is specified there, you will find the length exactly at this point (as a pure shaft measurement).
For some drive shafts, no shaft measurement is provided in the product description. In these cases, the design of the shaft is entirely guided by the components and installation conditions described in the article. This means: The drive shaft is 100% suitable if the conversion is carried out exactly as described in the article – with the mentioned combination of axle, engine, transmission (and the other specifications from the description).
Additionally important: For many drive shafts, we require the vehicle identification number (VIN), which must be provided to us. Thus, after the order, we have a clear assignment and can ensure that you receive exactly the drive shaft that perfectly fits your vehicle and setup.
