Audi A4 8D model 97 conversion to Audi S8 4E ceramic brake system with 356x28mm brake discs
The customer's request / problem:
Our customer Torsten would like to install the following ceramic brake system with these components on his Audi A4 8D model 97 rear axle:
- Brake disc from S8 4E 356x28mm, part no. 4E0 615 602G
- Ceramic brake system from Audi S8 4E, part no.: 4E0 615 107/108
- For installation, either the wheel hub from the RS6 4B in the original A4 steering knuckle or an adapter for wheel centring must be used.
Our realisation / solution:
Torsten filled in all the required measurements in our brake caliper configurator and was guided step by step what to do. Based on the entered dimensions, a file is automatically generated for our 3D printer. This saves Torsten the money for a drawing creation.
3-D Prototyping
The final prototype is sent to Torsten in advance so that he can check if everything fits perfectly and if the ceramic brake system can be installed.
Torsten told us after the test fitting that 1-2 small changes should be made so that everything fits exactly. We implemented these directly and now we can start with the production of the tuning adapters.
"As you can see in the attachment, some changes are necessary. The adapter thickness is increased from 18mm to 20mm. The axial distance of the inner holes to the outer holes is reduced from 15mm to 12mm. The inner adapter radius is too flat. The radius is increased by 6mm. The outer holes (12.2mm through hole) are lowered to 25mm 90 degrees. Drawing and photo of the modified plastic adapter are attached."
Production
After Torsten's approval, we now machine the brake tuning adapter for the Audi A4 8D model 97 to a precise fit. Afterwards it is given to the surface refiner.
Installation and test
The tuning adapter has now returned to us from the surface tuner. We have sent the brake caliper adapter directly to Torsten so that he can install the ceramic brake system from the Audi S8 4E with the 356x28mm brake discs on his Audi A4 8D model 97.
