The customer's request / problem:
Our customer Michael would like to install the following gearbox and engine on his VW Golf 1:
- 02Q 6-speed gearbox from VW Golf 5 6 ect.
- VAG 4-cylinder engines, 16V 1.8T 1.9 TDI
Our realisation / solution:
- Michael has sent us a technical drawing how the gearbox holder for the 02Q 6-speed gearbox could look.
- We can transfer the technical drawing directly into our CAD program and use it to print a 3D model.

3-D Prototyping
The final 3D prototype is sent to Michael in advance so that everything can be tested for a perfect fit and the 02Q 6-speed gearbox can be installed in combination with the 4-cylinder engine in the VW Golf 1. Michael also told us that 1-2 small changes have to be made to the tuning adapter so that everything fits 100%.
We always work with a 3D model in advance, because it always happens that certain dimensions and conditions cannot be taken into account on the tuning adapter in advance. With the 3D model, we can be sure that everything fits.
Production
After Michael's approval we manufacture the components for the gearbox tuning adapter suitable for the VW Golf 1, Scirocco, Caddy 14d bodies.
Afterwards, the individual assemblies are welded and then taken to the surface refiner.
We saw potential for other customers in Michael's conversion project to the 02Q 6-speed gearbox in combination with the 4-cylinder engine and therefore shared the development costs and included the gearbox tuning adapter directly in our range.
