Installation instructions: Brake calliper adapter for conversion to R32/S3/TT 1.8T brake system - perfect solution for Golf 3 VR6, Corrado G60/VR6 & Golf 2 16V for brake upgrade
1. Introduction & Benefits
The Epytec brake caliper adapters allow you to convert to larger brake systems from the Audi S3, TT or Golf 4 R32 (1J0615125A / 8L0615125 / 8N0615125 / 443 615 123 A) - and do so cost-effectively, retrofittably and with perfect fit. You have the option of driving brake discs with 312x25 mm (8N0 615 301 A) or even 334x32 mm ( VAG 1J0 615 301 AA , VAG 8N0 615 301 B) - a huge advantage if you have converted to more power or regularly drive your vehicle in a sporty manner.
These adapters have been specially developed for:
-
VW Golf 3 VR6
-
VW Corrado G60 / VR6
-
Or all vehicles that have been retrofitted with a VR6 plus axle
You use OEM brake callipers from R32, S3 or TT - an ideal solution for combining stable braking performance with original components.

2. Tools & materials
For the conversion you need:
-
17 mm socket (for removing the original holders)
-
Large ratchet
-
10 mm hexagonal insert (for new adapter screw connection)
-
Torque spanner (120 Nm recommended for adapter screw connection)
-
Brake cleaner
-
Ceramic paste or anti-squeak paste for the coverings
-
Medium-strength threadlocker
-
Torque spanner for wheel bolts (110-120 Nm depending on vehicle)
-
Wire brush or small grinding disc for cleaning the contact surfaces
3. Step-by-step instructions
Firstly, the vehicle is lifted onto a stable lifting platform or secured with jack stands. Then remove the wheel and gain access to the brake system.
First remove the original brake calliper by detaching it from the bracket. To do this, remove the guide bolts and remove the brake calliper. Work carefully and with feeling so as not to damage any cables
The corresponding brake calliper bracket and the original 288 mm brake disc can then be removed. These are usually attached to the steering knuckle with two bolts (17 mm socket) - if the bolts are tight, an impact wrench or an extension tube will help.
Now fit the new brake disc (312x25 or 334x32 mm). Make sure that the wheel hub is free of rust and dirt - ideally clean it with brake cleaner and a wire brush. Also check that the new disc fits cleanly and does not rub.
The Epytec brake calliper adapter is then attached to the axle together with the Audi S3, TT or Golf 4 R32 (1J0615125A / 8L0615125 / 8N0615125 / 443 615 123 A) brake calliper (see red arrow). To do this, use the screws supplied and tighten them with a 10 mm hexagon spanner and threadlocker to approx. 120 Nm.

Now fit the Audi S3, TT or Golf 4 R32 (1J0615125A / 8L0615125 / 8N0615125 / 443 615 123 A) brake calliper - depending on the variant, either 312x25mm or 334x32 brake discs are used. Before fitting the pads, we recommend using ceramic paste to avoid squeaking noises.
After reassembly, refit the wheel and check the system for freedom of movement. Turn the wheel by hand and make sure that the disc does not touch anywhere. Repeat this with the steering wheel turned.
Important: After the conversion, the brake system must be properly bled, especially if the brake lines have been opened.

4. Sources of error & Troubleshooting
If grinding occurs after installation, be sure to check:
-
Whether the brake disc sits flat on the hub.
-
Whether the adapters have been screwed on correctly and completely.
-
If there is rust or dirt on the contact surfaces of the adapters, clean them thoroughly with a wire brush.
-
If the wheel is difficult to turn, the brake disc may be misaligned or the axle surface may be under tension.
Tipp:
"When tightening the adapter bolts, always pay attention to the torque - over-tightening can lead to dangerous play, over-tightening can damage the thread!"
