3 Series BMW E36 conversion to the Porsche 986 Boxter S brake calipers with the 328x20mm brake disc from the BMW M3 E46
The customer's request / problem:
Our customer Roman would like to install the following brake system with these components on his front axle of his 3-series BMW E36:
- Porsche 986 Boxter S rear (part no.996.352.421/422)
- BMW M3 E46 328x20 (part no. 34212282303 or 34212282304)
Solution by modifying an adapter from our range:
- We didn't have a suitable adapter for exactly this combination in our range, but a similar one to install the BMW E46 M3 CSL brake discs with 345x28 mm and the Porsche Boxter986 S brake caliper on the 3-series BMW E36.
- Roman ordered this in advance to check what needed to be changed.
- On the basis of this, we produced a 3-D model, using our configurator for the 3 Series BMW E36.
3-D Prototyping
The final prototype is sent to Roman in advance so that he can test if everything fits perfectly and if the Porsche brake system fits on the 3-series BMW E36. Roman also told us that 1-2 small changes have to be made to the tuning adapter so that everything fits 100%.
We always work with a 3D model in advance, because it always happens that certain dimensions and conditions cannot be taken on the tuning adapter in advance. With the 3D model, we can be sure that everything fits.
Production
After Roman's approval, we machine the brake tuning adapter for the 3-series BMW E36 to a precise fit. Then it's sent to the surface refiner.
Installation and test
The tuning adapter has returned from the surface tuner and was sent directly to Roman, so that he can mount the Porsche Boxter 986S brake calipers with the brake discs of the BMW M3 E36 328x20mm on his 3-series BMW E36.
