Installation instructions for Artikel 915 VW T3 Bus conversion to the Audi ATE 981 982 brake system with 347x30mm brake disc adapter tuning
Dismantling::
- Old brake system (brake disc, brake caliper and brake caliper carrier)
- Remove or machine the air baffle or brake baffle or armature plate (although we prefer to remove it because the brake is ventilated better).

- Approx. 1-2 hours of time required, depending on specialist knowledge
- Torque wrench with matching attachments
- Liquid screw lock
Next step, the brake calipers from Audi A6 4F must be mounted on the brake caliper carriers. Then you can reconnect the brake lines and bleed the brake completely. With this conversion, we recommended to convert directly to steel braided brake lines.
Here you come directly to the suitable steel braided lines.
These have the following advantages:
- no pressure loss when braking, noticeably exact pressure point
- no swelling as with rubber lines
- save money, because Steel braided lines have an almost unlimited shelf life and do not have to be replaced every 3-5 years
- Shorter braking distance
- marten safety
- optics
When you mount the rim, you must ensure that the brake caliper does not rub against the rim. If this is the case, you can counteract this with spacers if necessary, so that the rim has enough distance to the brake caliper. Click here for our spacers (click here)
So the conversion with the Audi A6 4f ATE 981 and 982 brake calipers and matching brake disc is almost complete.
Finally, the freedom of movement of the new brake system must be checked. To do this, turn the vehicle completely to the left and right and check that nothing is rubbing anywhere, or that you are not standing in line anywhere, e.g. on the ball joint, wishbone, etc.
The assembly must be done in the sprung and rebounded state.
