Installation instructions article 389 Motor mount gearbox mount 1.8T in the Golf 1 Caddy 14d
here you can read how to install the 1,8t engine in your VW Golf 1, Scirocco oder Caddy 14d step by step
First you have to rev the engine to TDC. A distinction is made between top dead center (OT), where the connecting rod (piston, crosshead) is the greatest distance from the crankshaft, and bottom dead center (UT), where the connecting rod is the shortest distance from the crankshaft. It is important to pay attention to the marking here.
When the engine has been turned to TDC, the V-belt can then be removed.
Then you can dismantle the pulley and belt tensioner.
Next, the tensioning element or tensioning pulley can be dismantled.
You can then replace the water pump if necessary. Next you can press the engine mounts 171199214F into the Epytec engine mount.
The position is always different due to the tolerances on the bodies.
The best way to do this is as follows:
- Assemble the motor and gearbox holder (without bearings).
- Engine and transmission "hang" in the vehicle so that everything fits perfectly.
- Mark the position of how the bearings should then be pressed.
- press bearing. Because the bearings are eccentric, you can perfectly align the engine and gearbox. When the engine mount is pressed into the engine mount, you can mount the whole thing.
The tensioner with part number: 027109243 must be installed with our tensioner adapter and spring washer, for example with part number N0122314, between the collar of the screw and the tensioner
Tipp!!

Finally, the pulley, the belt tensioner and the V-ribbed belt must be reassembled
