Brake Conversionon the front -and rear axle of the Opel Corsa E OPC (yc.2017) to the 6 -piston Brembo GT6 Brake and the 4 -piston Brembo GT6 brake in combination with the Audi R8 hand brake caliper(139221)

The customer request / problem:

Pour customer Harun would like to install the following brake system with these components on the front- and rear axle of his Opel Corsa E OPC (yoc.2017):

Front axle:

Brembo GT6 6-piston brake system
355x32mm friction ring

Rear axle:

Brembo GT6 4-piston brake system
330x28mm friction ring
Audi R8 hand brake caliper(22.8274.03)

Our realisation / solution:

Harun sent us the wheel bearing housings from the front and rear axle, including all the components of his desired brake system, by freight forwarder.
So that Harun can drive the Brembo GT6 6-piston brake system in combination with the 355x32mm friction ring, we have to make him a customised brake disc pot and a suitable brake caliper tuning adapter
In order to be able to install the Brembo GT6 4-piston brake calipers and the Audi R8 handbrake caliper (22.8274.03) in combination with the 330x28mm friction ring on the rear axle, we have to manufacture a brake caliper adapter with 4 mounts for the 2 brake calipers.

3D-Prototyping front axle

To enable Harun to drive the Brembo GT6 6-piston brake system in combination with the 355x32mm friction ring on the front axle of his Opel Corsa E OPC, we have to produce a customised brake disc pot and a brake caliper tuning adapter.

The final 3D prototypes are assembled directly in our workshop to test whether everything fits perfectly and whether there are any defects.

3D-Prototyping rear axle

So that Harun can drive the Brembo GT6 4-piston brake system in combination with the Audi R8 handbrake caliper (22.8274.03) with the 330x28mm friction rings, we have to produce a brake caliper tuning adapter.

The problem here was, the brake caliper adapter for the rear axle is very large, and we were therefore only able to print part of the 3D model in order to determine the exact position for the Audi R8 handbrake caliper.

Once we had determined the exact position for the Audi R8 handbrake caliper, we were able to print the complete 3D model.

The final prototype is assembled directly in our workshop to test whether everything fits perfectly and whether there are any defects. We always work with a 3D model in advance, as it often happens that certain dimensions and conditions cannot be taken into account on the tuning adapter in advance.

Thanks to the 3D model, we can be sure that everything fits.

Production

After we have tested the 3D prototypes in our workshop, we can mill the customised brake disc pots and brake caliper tuning adapters for the front and rear axle to fit the Opel Corsa E OPC (yoc 2017 ) precisely in order to install the Brembo GT6 6-piston brake system and the Brembo GT6 4-piston brake system in combination with the Audi R8 handbrake caliper.

Here is a picture of how big the raw material for the rear axle brake caliper adapter was.

The customised brake disc pots and the tuning adapters have arrived back at our factory from the surface refiner and were test-fitted directly in our workshop.

The brake system and friction rings can be fitted directly to the front axle using the customised brake disc pots and tuning brake caliper adapters.

The brake system and the friction rings can be fitted directly to the rear axle using the tuning brake caliper adapter.

As the original brake disc pot can be used on the rear axle for this project and the floaters and mounting material were no longer available, we had to make them for Harun so that he could install the brake system.
