The setting of the diaphragm spring clutch is free of play, i.e. the releaser always runs with the clutch as it rotates. A force generated by the actuation system ensures that the clutch and the thrust ring of the release bearing rotate at the same speed. Different speed differences lead to noise and increased wear.
The Sachs releasers are increasingly being made of plastic so that weight can be saved.
