Installation instruction article no. 535 Manta Ascona Kadett 16V conversion engine mount c20xe c20ne engine mount engine conversion

Here you can find out how to proceed step by step if you want to install the Opel 16V or 8V engine in your Manta B, Ascona B or Kadett C. Many thanks to Bernd for this great conversion report and installation instruction.

My name is Bernd Lau, Epytec customer, 51 years young.  First of all, thanks to EPYTEC for the fast and good communication, really great.
Here is the complete conversion report from Bernd, thanks again for the report:)
Fitting the EPYTEC motor mount:
Literally "child's play". You can't mount the motor mounts the wrong way round!en!
Simply attach them with new screws ...
We used 10.9 screws, but 8.8 screws also work, hexagonal or hexagonal doesn't matter, M12x30.

Usable engine mounts and their effect:

Thanks to the slotted holes in the mounts, the motor can be installed at an angle or straight.
Minimally, you can still correct the inclination of the engine by selecting the engine mounts, for example, to get a little more space between the manifold and the BKV, or for the use of longer intake manifolds, etc.
Standard engine mounts should have a diameter of 70mm and a height of 50mm - these fit perfectly.
For motorsport purposes you can also get 30 to 70mm height, which results in a different lean angle, or also a higher distance to the oil sump, or lower installation point for dry sump.

Installation of the brackets and bearings on the axle

The front axle of the Kadett C has the mounting for the engine mount blocks integrated.
The mountings themselves always have 3 openings.
It should be noted that the small axle of the OHV engine models "may" be different from the CIH engine axle in that a nut for the rubber bearings was not welded under each of the openings at the factory. "Can" because there were often conversions. As a rule, you can "simply" turn the motor bearings clockwise into the thread of hole 3.

IF THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE:

OHV models should have welded nuts in hole 1, but CIH axles in hole 1+3, as far as I know. If hole 3 is without a screw, it will be fiddly to install, because then you will probably have to put a lock nut and washer on by hand in a place that was not intended for it. You then have to reach either with 2 fingers underneath hole 2 or to the side of hole 3 to loosen a nut by hand. I have adapted, deformed and bent a cheap spanner for this purpose.
Unfortunately, as you can see here, there is no nut welded into hole 3 at the factory. This must therefore be re-welded by myself..

ATTENTION:

It is not possible to fit the engine mounts to holes 1+2 without machining the firewall / bulkhead. Otherwise the cooling water hose at the cylinder head will be squeezed off when trying to do this.
