Here you will find out how to proceed step by step so that you have more space for a large water cooler in the VW Golf 2, Jetta and Corrado after engine modifications.

Here is a picture of the original VW Golf 2, etc. locker support.

First you have to cut off the upper part with an angle grinder. The new sheet metal will be attached later

Important!!

At least 15 mm must overlap so that the new sheet metal can be attached.

Here you can see what the cut-off sheet must look like.

Then the 3 original welding points have to be drilled out. These are marked in black on the photo. .

Tipp!!

First pre-drill with a 3mm drill to hit the points more precisely and then drill through the welding points with a 6mm drill.

At the points where the weld seam still holds minimally, you only have to lever a little with a screwdriver and the part will loosen

In the picture you can see the removed original lock carrier plate.

Next you have to place the Epytec plate at the top and mark the holes for drilling.

Drill the hole according to the marking. It is advisable to pre-drill with a small drill bit and then drill the final hole with a 6.5 mm drill bit.

Mount the M6 countersunk screws with the supplied washers and self-locking nuts.

Then fit the centre bar with the M8 bolt, washers and self-locking nut.

The conversion is already finished and as you can see, you have a lot more space for your new radiator :)
