Preparation:

Make sure you have all the tools you need to complete the gearbox replacement. You will usually need an engine jack, a gearbox trolley, various spanners and spanner sets, a jack, jack stands or a lifting platform.

Before you start replacing the gearbox, you should carry out some preparatory work. This includes removing parts that obstruct access to the engine or transmission, such as the air filter, intake manifold, exhaust system, cooling system and possibly the radiator.

Bleed the cooling system by opening the bleed plug and making sure the engine is cold. Remove the coolant from the system by opening the radiator drain cock. Also drain the engine oil and transmission oil according to the vehicle manufacturer's instructions.

Lift the car securely to ensure safe access to the engine and gearbox. Use jack stands or a lifting platform to keep the car stable. Make sure that the car is securely fixed during the work to avoid accidents.

Check all hoses, cables and connections while removing the gearbox. Make sure they are intact and show no signs of wear, cracks or damage. Replace defective parts if necessary to avoid problems in the future

Installation:

First check the M8 threaded holes on your 012 VW / Audi 5-speed gearbox. If they are damaged or dirty, you may have to recut them. Use a suitable tapping tool and make sure that the threads are clean and intact to ensure proper mounting of the Epytec gearbox retainer.

Now you can screw our Epytec gearbox holder article 1114 onto the 012 VW / Audi 5-speed gearbox. Use M8 screws to securely attach the gearbox mount.

Make sure that the screws are tightened firmly. Our gearbox holder can be screwed with the same torque as the original holder.

The engine and the 012 VW / Audi 5-speed gearbox must then be screwed together. Make sure that the engine and the gearbox are correctly aligned.

To do this, it is best to lift the gearbox with suitable aids, such as a gearbox jack.

With the Epytec gearbox bracket, you have the option of installing your gearbox in 3 different positions, according to your needs.

To attach the 012 VW / Audi 5-speed gearbox to the original gearbox holder on the car side, the original screw can be used.

Make sure that the screw is firmly tightened to ensure a secure and reliable holding of the gearbox.

Finally, check all bolted connections to ensure that they are correctly tightened.

Please note that additional components are required to fit the 012 gearbox to your T3.
