Installation instruction for article 580 repair plate rear shock absorber mount Audi RS4 S4 S2 RS2

Here you will be shown how to install the repair panels for the rear shock absorber mount, spring and axle suspension of the Audi RS4 S4 S2 RS2 step by step.

The shock absorber mounts of the RS4 S4 S2 have extreme weak points, they rust through again and again. Since the parts are very rare, you can only get them for a lot of money. Therefore, we at EPYTEC have come up with a solution and developed a suitable repair plate, which is now available in our shop (click here). Here you can find the fitting instructions

Preparation:

First, the Audi RS4 S4 S2 shock absorber mount must be dismantled so that it can then be clamped in a vice so that it sits neatly and can no longer move.

On the edge of the shock absorber mount you will see the welding points, these must be drilled. We recommend a 7mm drill bit, which is perfect for this.

Important!!

The holes may only be drilled. This means that only the upper plate may be drilled through, i.e. do not drill through completely!

The final result of the holes on the original shock absorber mount must look like this afterwards

Then you have to cut the lower edge of the sheet with an angle grinder and a cutting disc.

Once the cut is made, you can lift the sheet with a sturdy screwdriver at the first drilled welding point, then do this piece by piece.

Tipp:

If the sheet is difficult or impossible to remove, you may have to drill with a larger drill bit or a little deeper until the sheet comes off easily.

Here you can see a comparison of the old shock absorber plate, which has just been removed and tapped. Next to it you see the new Epytec repair plate for the shock absorber mount.

This is what the original shock absorber mount of the Audi RS4 RS2 S2 looks like after the old sheet metal has been removed.

Installation:

Now you can start with the installation of the new Epytec shock absorber plate. It is advisable to have the old sheet metal sandblasted or to remove the rust with the help of a wire brush. Afterwards, it is best to powder coat or paint / prime the whole thing.

The plate is now positioned so that the through and slotted holes, which are standard in the strut mount, are aligned with the new Epytec repair plate.

First, attach the Epytec repair plate to the shock absorber mount.

After the new Epytec repair plate has been attached to the shock absorber mount of the Audi RS 4 RS2 S2, you can tap the lower part of the repair plate onto the shock absorber mount.

If everything fits and the repair plate for the Audi RS4 S4 RS2 shock absorber mount fits cleanly, you must fill the holes and weld through them.

When you have welded everything through, you just have to sand it flat with a grinding wheel to get a nice smooth surface.

Now the shock absorber mount can be primed, painted or powder-coated. Afterwards the component looks like NEW!
