Conversion for the front and rear axle of a Mercedes MB S63 AMG to the Brembo 6-piston system with the Brembo GTR 405x34 cm brake disc
Planning
The following is a conversion for the front and rear axle to the GTR Brembo 6-piston calipers (20A09202) with the Brembo GTR brake disc (103.9502E) on a Mercedes MB S63 Amg (yoc 2017).
After an enquiry from our customer Christian by e-mail about his conversion project, our technician Julian got straight on the phone and talked through the project with him.
He explained to him how the customisation process works. "First you send us the axle, brake callipers and discs so that we have them and can measure everything! Then we make a CAD drawing and print it as a sample on our 3D printer for direct testing on the axle. If everything fits, we manufacture the adapter on the milling machine, galvanise it and then test the final adapter again to make sure that everything really fits and the adapter can be installed. "
For Christian, everything fit and he assigned us to produce the adapters for front and rear axle. In the next section you can see the complete process documented with pictures.
Arrival of the parts
Here you can see how Christian sent us his parts.
Just pack everything neatly and bring it to the post office! Within 2 days the parts arrive and we can start measuring and prototyping.
Front axle
For this project, the production of the adapter for the front axle was "daily business" for us. As you can see on the picture, it became a normal "L-adapter", which we produce almost every day!
Rear axle
The rear axle, on the other hand, proved to be a very complex "adapter", as it had to be possible for the adapter to be in one piece in order to connect the brake caliper and the handbrake caliper.
The crux of the matter was that our printer was a bit too small to print the adapter in one piece, so we had to manage and print the adapter for the Mercedes MB S63 Amg (yoc 2017) from 2 pieces to assemble it for testing.
Once the prototyping was complete and the adapters fitted the Brembo GTR Brembo 6-piston caliper (20A09202) with the GTR brake disc (103.9502E), we were able to pass the order on to manufacturing and start milling the tuning adapters.
Milling
About 4 weeks later, we had the final milled and galvanised tuning adapters back in our house to test them one last time with all components. On the following pictures you can see how big the adapter finally became and what a "crazy shape" it has.
Installation and Test
Before we could pack everything again and send Christian the final tuning adapters, we assembled the adapters in our workshop to test if everything fits perfectly - which was the case, as you can see in the pictures.
Here you can see once again exactly how we were able to solve the problem of our customer Christian with the bent adapter, so that the brake caliper and handbrake caliper can work together perfectly.

After everything fitted, we could pack up the axle, brake disc, brake calipers and the finished adapters and send them back to Christian!
