Here you will find out how to install the 02M 6-speed gearbox from the R32 / V6 to the 1.8T, VR6 or 16V engine in the VW Golf 2 3, Passat, Corrado, Jetta or Vento step by step.
When converting to the 02M gearbox using our brackets, please note that the bearing shown in the picture must be removed and moved to the rear because of the drive shaft. Unfortunately, this is technically impossible in order to fit the 02M 6-speed gearbox in the Golf 2 and 3.
To determine the exact position where the bearing has to be welded again, it is best to proceed as follows:
- Flex the bearing
- Screw the motor and gearbox brackets to the motor and gearbox
- Hang the engine and gearbox in the engine compartment and align them correctly so that everything fits perfectly.
- Now that everything fits perfectly, the new bearing position is exact.
- Mark the exact position of the new bearing seat.
- Hang the engine and gearbox on their sides.
- Weld the bearing seat to the determined position.
- Now the motor and the gearbox can be bolted together.
The supplied small gearbox holder for the 02m gearbox must be welded to the original gearbox holder of the VW Golf 2 3 etc.
