BMW Alpina B6 E64 tuning conversion to the Mercedes AMG R197 6-piston brake callipers with the two-piece Brembo 390x36mm brake disc including individual brake pots / brake disc pots.
The customer's request / problem:
Our customer Rolf would like to install the following components on the front axle of his BMW Alpina B6 E64:
- Brembo 390x36mm brake disc including individual brake pots
- 6-piston caliper from Mercedes AMG SLS R197
that Rolf can mount the brake discs on the front axle, he needs custom made brake pots / brake disc pots, because the BMW brake discs are stronger scaled.
Our realisation / solution:
Our customer Rolf sent us the following components.
- floating caliper: AMG SLS R197 Brembo 6-piston
- the two-piece Brembo brake disc 390 x 36 mm
We assembled the components once to see if it was possible to adapt the entire thing and used this as a basis for creating the drawings for the adapters and brake disc pots.
3-D Prototyping
The final prototype is tested and assembled in our workshop beforehand to make sure it fits perfectly and does not show any defects.
We always work with a 3D model in advance, as it is often the case that certain dimensions and conditions cannot be taken into account on the tuning adapter in advance. With the 3D model, we can be sure that everything fits.
