Installation Instruction for Article 403 Porsche Cayenne ZR 17 brake system in Audi TT A3 S3 VW Golf Polo VW Polo 6r WRC with the 334x32 brake disc
Disassembly:
- Old brake system (brake disc, brake caliper and brake caliper carrier).
- Remove or process the air baffle or brake baffle or anchor plate (we prefer removal, as the ventilation of the brake is better ensured).
What do you need ?
- Depending on your technical knowledge, about 1-2 hours of time
- Torque spanner with suitable attachments
- Use liquid threadlocker / Loctite to secure the screws.
First, the old brake must be completely dismantled and the wheel hub cleaned. In the picture you can see that the new steel braided line has already been replaced. You can also do this at the end, if you prefer. The advantage of the steel braided lines is that they are simply more durable and it is a good idea to replace them directly when rebuilding the brake system.
Now mount the Epytec brake caliper adapter to the axle using the bolts supplied. The brake caliper adapter is screwed onto the axle from the rear.
The supplied M12x1.5 screws are tightened with 120NM.
!!Important!!
Now you have to screw or fix the brake disc to the hub.
After the brake disc has been mounted, the ZR18 Porsche Cayenne 6-piston brake callipers are attached to the brake calliper adapter with the M16x1.5 screws supplied. Now check that everything is running freely and that nothing is rubbing anywhere. The whole thing must also be checked when you turn completely to the left and right to see if anything is in the way, e.g. suspension joint, wishbone etc.
If everything fits, the M16x1.5 screws are tightened with 270NM.
Now the brake pads are mounted and lubricated at the contact points. In this case, the ZR17 pads are used because they fit perfectly on the disc. However, you can also use the Z18 brake pads. These are a little longer and protrude a little over the brake disc, but this is not a problem.
The screws of the mounting kit for the brake pads are tightened with 35NM.
- No pressure loss when applying the brakes, noticeably exact pressure point
- No swelling as with rubber lines
- Cost savings, as steel braided lines have an almost unlimited service life and do not have to be replaced every 3-5 years.
- Shorter braking distance
- Protection against martens
- Optics
Now you can mount the rim again.
When you mount the rim, make sure that the brake caliper does not rub against the rim. If this is the case, you can counteract this with wheel spacers, if necessary, so that the rim has enough distance to the brake calliper. Click here for our wheel spacers (click here).
The conversion with the ZR17 6-piston brake callipers and matching VW Golf R32 334x32mm brake disc is almost complete
Finally, the movement of the new brake system has to be checked. To do this, turn the vehicle in completely to the left and right and check that nothing is rubbing or that nothing is touching the suspension joint, wishbone, etc. The whole procedure must be carried out in the sprung and braked position.
The whole procedure must be carried out with the suspension on and off.
If there is a collision at full steering angle, it may be possible to counteract it with steering angle limiters (click here for our steering angle limiters).
If you want to drive the OZ Ultraleggera 8x17 ET35, you have to drive 12mm track plates so that the Z18 brake caliper does not touch the rim.
With the original Seat Leon Cupra R 1M rims in 7,5x18 ET38 you also have to use at least 10mm track plates so that the Z18 brake caliper does not touch the rim.
