The SACHS release lever is the transmission link between the rotating clutch and the stationary clutch actuation system. It is responsible for the safe operation of the clutch.
The adjustment of the diaphragm spring clutch is backlash-free, i.e. the release lever always moves when the clutch is rotating. A force generated by the actuation system ensures that the clutch and the thrust ring of the release bearing run at the same speed. Differences in speed lead to noise and increased wear.
Sachs release mechanisms are increasingly being made of plastic to save weight.
