Installation Instructions for Artikel 355 VW Golf 1 Caddy 14d Scirocco shifting shortening Short Shifter Schaltung
Here you can find out how to proceed step by step to install the short shifter in your VW Golf 1, Jetta 1, Caddy 14d or Scirocco 1 and 2. The stainless steel short shifter has three setting options:
- The first hole, seen from the shaft, gives you approx. 5% longer shifting travel
- The second hole gives you approx. 10% shorter shifting travel
- The third hole gives you approx. 30% shorter shifting travel
First, the original rocker switch must be dismantled (don't let this confuse you, these pictures show you the Epytec short shifter, which we install or replace in exactly the same way as the original one.
The selector shaft is removed as follows. Loose the screw (below in the picture) of the changeover shaft to be replaced.
Then carefully pull out the cotter pin and remove the connecting linkage (towards the gearbox) from the hole.
The changeover shaft is now exposed and can easily be pulled out upwards
The switch bracket is now exposed.
The rubber / PU bushing must be removed from the original rocker switch and inserted into the desired hole of the Epytec short shifter.
Tipp!!
It is best to lubricate all parts with a little grease.
Here the first hole was used so that you have a 30% shorter switching path.
- The first hole, seen from the shaft, gives you approx. 5% longer shifting travel
- The second hole gives you approx. 10% shorter shifting travel
- The third hole gives you approx. 30% shorter shifting travel
Now the new Epytec shortened shifter or lengthened shifter can be installed. The assembly takes place exactly in the reverse order.
Tipp!!
The two holes on the retaining bracket, which lead into the selector shaft, must also be lubricated with grease.
