Product information "VW Beetle Adapter Porsche 944 Floating Caliper Brake Caliper Adapter"
Brake caliper adapter on model VW Beetle with drum brakes (1965-1968) for conversion the complete Porsche 944 floating caliper brake system.
Advantages of this brake system:
- top deceleration, without comparison with conventional brake system
- Is not authorized under the STVO (German Road Licensing Law) However, thanks to the material certificate supplied with the order, it is possible to register your purchase even for series vehicles
- easy assembly. Can be easily returned to original state. No welding, milling and drilling
Required components:
- brake caliper: 944 Porsche floating brake calipers
- brake disc: Porsche 944 from 2.7 l 282.5x20.5mm, reference 944 351 951 02 + 944 351 041 05
- wheel bearing: important there were different steering knuckles/axle journal on the VW Beetle, so the wheel bearings to be used must match the year of manufacture of the steering knuckle used
- shaft sealing ring / Simmerring are used universal, parts reference = BASL 40x60x10 mm
- Beetle wheel hub with Porsche 5x130 bolt / pitch circle (available in our shop, click here)

Tips, information and advice:
- To improve ventilation of the brake system, we recommend removing the anchor plates/brake dust plates.
- For easy mounting of the rim, we recommend purchasing two of our wheel mounting aids at the same time >>go directly to the article here<<
- We cannot give you a generalised answer as to which rim size you can ride after your brake conversion. There are simply too many different wheel rims. For this reason, we have developed a template with which you can easily check whether the brake system kit fits under your rim. We have included a link to the template in the description. - Install the adapter with the required components and then check whether new brake lines are required, as the old ones may not be long enough or the connection may not fit, depending on the model. Due to the significantly better efficiency, we recommend switching to steel braided lines. We have developed a steel braided line configurator especially for this function, which you can use to assemble and then install them according to your requirements. - The handbrake cable must always be used from the installed calliper, which means that the new handbrake cable may have to be adjusted slightly. For conversions in which the original calliper is still used and the original handbrake cable can be used, you may have to route it more directly to compensate for the larger disc diameter and longer travel
